Joseph Belanger is a festival featured cinematographer and screenwriter with around 5 years of experience in the film, commercial, and documentary industry. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he developed a love for film and art at a young age, spending time at the Art Academy of Cincinnati before earing a degree in Cinematography from the Colorado Film School. While there, Joseph shot 5 short films as the Director of Photography, with his most successful, "Earshot", having a festival run in Denver and earning over 8 awards at the CFS Student Show.
While at school, Joseph expanded his knowledge beyond the camera department, gaining experience working as a Gaffer and Grip on over 10 different short films. He also spent all 4 years working in the school's equipment cage, giving him access to work and train on industry standard cameras, lighting, microphones, and G&E equipment. He has a palpable love and passion for the film and television industry, making him extremely personable and easy to work with. One of his favorite aspects of creating art is the ability to work through and develop idea with others. His primary artistic goal, no matter what area of production he is in, is to tell stories about people; connecting and effecting other's lives through the stories he is able to tell on screen.
Joseph's biggest passion, though, came working in the camera department as a first assistant camera and focus puller. He has credits on over 25 short films, documentaries, and commercials and became one of the most skilled, reliable, and accurate focus pullers at school and in Denver's indie film production industry. These abilities earned him a first assistant camera an focus puller positions with Toyota shooting yearly commercials slates, as well as work on an array of documentaries, including an Olympic documentary in Colorado Springs.
